What is the best thing to clean artificial grass with?

For normal artificial grass maintenance, start with the simplest methods:

Remove pet waste promptly.

Can you use bleach on artificial grass?

We don’t recommend using bleach as a routine artificial grass cleaner.

Bleach is designed to disinfect and whiten a wide range of household surfaces, but artificial grass contains synthetic fibres, backing materials, joins and potentially adhesives that weren’t necessarily designed for repeated exposure to strong chlorine-based cleaning chemicals.

There’s another consideration if children or animals use the garden.

Can you use Zoflora on artificial grass?

We wouldn’t recommend automatically applying Zoflora to artificial grass without first checking the turf manufacturer’s instructions.

Zoflora is a multipurpose disinfectant rather than a product developed specifically for artificial lawns.

Zoflora’s own guidance tells users to check the surface manufacturer’s instructions and patch test an inconspicuous area if unsure. It also advises keeping pets away from treated surfaces until they are completely dry.

Its published guidance also states that Zoflora should not be mixed with other cleaning products and that it is not recommended on certain outdoor surfaces, including concrete, concrete imprint driveways, patios and other dyed outdoor surfaces.

This is particularly relevant because some artificial grass installations sit over or alongside hard-standing surfaces.

Does Zoflora remove dog urine smells from artificial grass?

A disinfectant and a specialist artificial grass treatment aren’t necessarily doing the same job.

Artificial grass used by dogs can develop contamination beneath the visible fibres, particularly where urine repeatedly drains through the same areas.

A strong fragrance may make the garden smell fresher temporarily, but the underlying source of the odour needs to be addressed if you want a longer-lasting result.

Can you use vinegar on artificial grass?

Can you use washing-up liquid on artificial grass?

Our back garden is all stone flags and raised beds so it’s not welcoming for our little dog when she needs to answer a call of nature at short notice. In most cases our regular walks are enough for her needs, but occasionally she needs to go outside and it just won’t wait. Artificial grass is the answer to that problem and this cleaner is the solution to the problem that arises afterwards.It’s more than just a general cleaner that uses an anti-surfactant to remove dirt, although it does have that element. In this product there’s an enzymatic element that breaks down the stuff that causes odours: that detritus has attached itself to the inner pile of the artificial grass and as it decays it produces the odour. This cleaner helps to break that down rather than just trying to release it so it can be washed away.It really does work well and I’ve found it best to use it last thing at night and let it sit until morning. There’s a fresh odour that adds to the general feeling of cleanliness and makes the grass much more pleasant to be around.It’s not cheap so you’ll have to make up your own mind about whether it’s good value for money. Our artificial grass was looking a bit tired and we weren’t sure what to do with it as it’s in a commercial setting in our pub restaurant premises so has a lot of footfall, spilt food and drinks. We have a dog, and it was starting to hold onto those unpleasant urine smells, especially in warm weather. After using this, the odours were noticeably reduced and the grass smelled fresh again.The gel is easy to dilute and apply, and a little goes a long way. I also like that it's pet-friendly once used as directed, so I don't have to worry about letting my dog back out.A great product that actually does what it promises. I treated our artificial grass a week ago & unlike many others I have used, the lovely fresh melon fragrance is still noticeable every day. Most cleaners seem to lose their scent after just a couple of days, so this has been a pleasant surprise.As we have drought restrictions in Devon, with a hosepipe ban, I took the opportunity to clean this grass after the only rainfall we had in weeks whilst it was still wet as this cleaner required the artificial grass to be wet, unlike others that is sprayed on dry grass. I used a watering can to mix the cleaner & spread across the grass, then brushed it as per instructions. The thick gel was easy to apply & the method gave me confidence that it was definitely cleaning the grass & removing dog urine odours.I only used half of the 1 litre bottle to cover our lawn so I have sufficient for another clean in a month's time which makes it good value as well. During the summer months, the warm weather brings out the unpleasant dog urine smells, so I find that it needs to be cleaned more frequently than the rest of the year.
