If you are still unsure of the best method to apply any of our GreenBlade products we have some handy hints and tip that may help you combat the nasties in your artificial grass, garden and outdoor space. Lets break it down step by step:
OK, lets get started – we strongly recommend you your brush or broom your artificial grass before applying any GreenBlade product. This will stand your grass blades upright and will allow the product to reach every blade, the grass backing and the sub base (depending on the GreenBlade product is being used but in most cases it will do all three) We also recommend you lightly water your grass area with a hose pipe before applying any product to allow it to adhere.
Don’t forget to shake the bottle and product well.
The mix ratios are listed but we do recommend that you use sufficient GreenBlade product. In fact you cant use too much to eradicate all the bacteria and odours.
Using a watering can to apply GreenBlade Pure Pro will do its job in the fight to remove odours but it will just take a little longer to complete. If you have a domestic jet wash machine with the attachment to apply a snow foam lance and bottle this will speed up the process but be sure to follow our guidance to avoid any issues.
It is important to not use the jet wash spray directly against your artificial grass as this can damage your grass and the sub base its laying on. This will, over time, make your sub base uneven and will create dips and burrows where water will pool and drainage will become increasingly difficult as it will sit within the dipped areas – not to mention the aesthetics and look of your grass and garden. Nobody wants it to look uneven and bumpy. The jet wash and snow foam bottle attachment is used to purely give you much more coverage and to make the job quicker.
Most snow foam attachments have the option to adjust the dilution rates and are usually marked 1 to 6. This can be adjusted as needed and dependant on how strong the odours present are.
Don’t forget that GreenBlade Pure Pro is an all-round garden sanitiser, so it’s not just limited to your artificial grass. It can be used on paths, patios, driveways and just about anywhere you want to keep clean, eradicate any bacteria and have that amazing fragrance fill your outdoor spaces. Comforted by knowing its safe for children and pets!
Once you have applied sufficient product to your grass area (making sure all areas have been covered with product – not just certain spots) it’s time for a well-earned rest for five to ten minutes or so. Let the product get to work as it seeks out all those nasty odours and bacteria. Its then time for another brush or broom of the artificial grass and to work the product in and through. We advise working backward so your grass looks upright (with no foot prints), smelling fresh, vibrant and looking like new. If you are using Pure Pro on hard standing surfaces then it can be left as it is to dry.
And here’s another couple of reminders to finish:
• Allow sufficient time for it to dry before people and pets to use the treated area.
• There is no need to rinse the grass or area after you have applied the product as this will only dilute the product further and will make it weaker.
• You can repeat the process if necessary, until all odours have been digested.
• YOU CANNOT USE GreenBlade Pure Pro with any other GreenBlade products as it is a Biocide.
Shake well before use.
If the area to be treated contains pet faeces, remove these prior to treatment.
We recommend brushing or raking your artificial grass to stand the blades upright. Pure Pro can also be used to sanitise all areas of your garden, including paths and patios.
We recommend a dilution ratio of 1 part product to 5 parts water to treat up to a 25m² area, depending on how strong you feel the odours present are.
In heavily soiled areas, the product can be applied undiluted. You cannot use too much product to eradicate bacteria or odour, as coverage will very much depend on the degree of contamination.
Apply GreenBlade Pure Pro using a watering can, pump sprayer, or snow foam lance bottle. It is important to apply the solution to the entire area (not just isolated spots) to ensure the product comes into direct contact with all areas of contamination. Apply evenly over the artificial grass.
Finish by brushing or brooming the artificial grass to agitate and work the product through the blades. Allow sufficient time for the whole area to dry fully before allowing pets and people to use the treated area. There is no need to rinse after application. Repeat, if necessary, until all odours and stains have been completely digested.

GreenBlade Green Guard Artificial Grass Cleaner & Odour Remover, 1L 1 Pack My ExperienceRight, morning everyone! Now, if you keep dogs, you know the struggle in winter or when it’s absolutely tipping it down outside—the ruddy dogs only want to go out if you give them a gentle little nudge on the end of your foot (only joking, of course, just a little budge with the boot!). Because of that, I set up a dedicated patch of astroturf for them near the house so they can do their business quickly without getting bogged down in the mud. It works smashingly well, but the smell gets right on your nerves! And I’ve got to say, this stuff is proper job! What I really like is the thick gel consistency. Unlike all sorts of other watery cleaners I’ve used in the past that just wash away in a flash, this gel actually feels like it’s clinging right to the "blades" of grass and backing so the bio-enzymes can get to work. I’ve used it on the main path as well as the astroturf patch, and it works equally well on both. It definitely removes the lingering wee smell completely rather than just masking it, leaving behind a nice fresh Watermelon Breeze scent. Ideal bit of kit for keeping the yard smelling fresh! The ProductThe GreenBlade Green Guard Artificial Grass Cleaner & Odour Remover (1L Bottle). Made in the UK, featuring a thick probiotic bio-enzyme gel formula with a Watermelon Breeze fragrance. Specifically engineered to cling to artificial turf fibers on hard-standing bases (concrete, patios, decking) to eliminate dog urine and pet odors at the source. Safe for pets and children once dry.The Ideal User / Deal BreakerAn essential buy for dog owners, pet keepers, and homeowners who have artificial grass laid over hard surfaces like concrete or patios and need a thick cleaner that won't immediately drain away. The deal breaker is if you need a pre-attached hose-end spray bottle for a massive multi-acre field, as this concentrated gel requires manual dilution in a watering can or sprayer.SummaryA remarkably effective, thick probiotic gel cleaner that clings where it's needed and completely neutralises stubborn pet odours. It does a fantastic job keeping the dog patch and path fresh, keeps the yard setup running smoothly, and gets 5 stars from me!Star Rating: 5/5Verified
AstroTurf cleaner Minty scented. Easy to use and dilute to desired strength. The upper end of the price for the quantity you receive - I diluted this with a 1 part liquid 5 parts water and I could smell the fragrance for a few hours but with the hot weather the urine smells promptly came back. Have used almost the whole bottle over two applications so it's quite expensive but for smaller areas may last longerVerified
Fresh effective cleaner that removes odours from artificial grass This cleaner has a fresh scent and works well on artificial grass, especially in areas used by pets. It removes odours effectively and leaves the surface looking cleaner without residue. The area cover depends on what surface you have under the artificial grass, if it’s concrete it’s a much smaller ratio so doesn’t cover as much area. I have a small courtyard and had to buy another bottle to get the proper coverage. It is overall a helpful product for keeping artificial grass fresh.Verified
Really Handy for Keeping Our Artificial Grass Fresh. I bought this because we have artificial grass and, with having a dog, it can get a bit smelly, especially when the weather is warm. I wanted something that would help get rid of the smell without using anything too harsh.I've been really happy with this so far. It's a thick gel, so it doesn't just disappear into the grass as soon as you put it down. It's easy to spread around and doesn't make a huge mess while you're using it.The main reason I bought it was for the dog urine smell, and it has definitely helped. After using it, the grass smells much fresher and the usual doggy smell is noticeably reduced.I also like that it doesn't have that really strong chemical smell that you get with some outdoor cleaners. The 1-litre bottle is a good size too, and I think it should last me quite a while.I've also used a bit on the patio where the dog tends to walk after going outside, and it's been useful there as well.Overall, I'm really pleased with it. It's easy to use, doesn't smell harsh and has made a noticeable difference to keeping our artificial grass smelling fresh. It's definitely something I'll keep using, especially during the warmer months.Verified
Very effective - nice smelling too I’m a recent convert to the world of artificial grass, having been inspired by a neighbour who got a patch for her dog to use. Our back garden is all stone flags and raised beds so it’s not welcoming for our little dog when she needs to answer a call of nature at short notice. In most cases our regular walks are enough for her needs, but occasionally she needs to go outside and it just won’t wait. Artificial grass is the answer to that problem and this cleaner is the solution to the problem that arises afterwards. It’s more than just a general cleaner that uses an anti-surfactant to remove dirt, although it does have that element. In this product there’s an enzymatic element that breaks down the stuff that causes odours: that detritus has attached itself to the inner pile of the artificial grass and as it decays it produces the odour. This cleaner helps to break that down rather than just trying to release it so it can be washed away.It really does work well and I’ve found it best to use it last thing at night and let it sit until morning. There’s a fresh odour that adds to the general feeling of cleanliness and makes the grass much more pleasant to be around. It’s not cheap so you’ll have to make up your own mind about whether it’s good value for money. I can say that it definitely works though, and perhaps that effectiveness is worth paying for.Verified
Leaves a nice smell GreenBlade Active Max Artificial Grass Cleaner for Dogs is a useful solution for keeping artificial grass fresh, clean and more pleasant around pets. The bio-enzymatic formula is designed to tackle dog urine odours rather than simply covering them up, making it particularly suitable for areas that are regularly used by dogs. The Cool Mint scent leaves a fresh fragrance after application without being excessively overpowering. The 1L bottle provides a reasonable amount of cleaner, especially because it can be diluted at a 1:5 ratio. This makes it practical for treating larger areas of artificial grass while keeping usage economical. The cleaner is straightforward to incorporate into a regular garden cleaning routine and can help maintain a fresher-looking and better-smelling lawn. The product is especially convenient for households where artificial grass receives frequent use from dogs, as unpleasant smells can otherwise become noticeable during warmer weather. The mint fragrance gives the grass a clean, refreshed feel after treatment. Overall, GreenBlade Active Max combines odour control, a pleasant scent and a concentrated formula in a convenient 1L bottle, making it a practical artificial grass cleaner for dog owners looking to keep outdoor areas hygienic and fresh.Verified
Safe, UK-made gel for artificial grass and patios If you’ve ever spent a summer wondering if your garden is a dog loo in disguise, this GreenBlade Green Guard cleaner is a bit of a revelation for artificial grass and patios. I picked up the 1L bottle after trying a few “fresh scent” sprays that just left the lawn smelling like a perfumed kennel. This one’s a thick probiotic gel, which means it actually breaks down the source of the pong rather than just layering on a fragrance. The science bit is simple: good bacteria munch away at the nasties, so you’re left with genuinely neutral grass, not a chemical cloud.I used it neat on the worst patches (thanks, spaniel) and diluted for a general spruce-up. The instructions are a bit vague on ratios, so I played it by ear, but it worked well both ways. The lack of a strong scent after use was a surprise – it doesn’t leave your garden smelling like a lemon grove, but it does mean you know the odour’s actually gone, not just hidden. The 1L bottle covered my small lawn and a couple of high-traffic patio spots, but if you’ve got a big garden or a pack of dogs, you’ll probably need more than one bottle for a deep clean. What I hadn’t expected was how safe it felt to use – no gloves needed, and I didn’t worry about the kids or the dog rolling around straight after. It’s UK-made, which is a quiet reassurance if you’re fussy about what goes on your grass. The gel consistency means it clings to the blades rather than running straight off, but it does take a bit longer to rinse out of a watering can than a thin liquid. For anyone with a shared garden or a communal play area, it’s a relief to know you’re not leaving behind anything harsh or toxic. One thing to keep in mind: there’s no lingering “clean” smell, so if you’re after that just-mown fragrance, you’ll be disappointed. Also, the lack of detailed dilution guidance means you might use more than you need at first, which could get pricey if you’re treating a large area regularly. Cleaning up is easy – just a quick brush and rinse before applying – but the bottle does get a bit sticky if you’re not careful with the cap.For the price, it’s good value for small to medium lawns, especially if you’re fed up with chemical sprays that don’t actually solve the problem. If you’ve got a massive garden or want a strong scent, you might want to look elsewhere, but for most pet owners, this is a practical, genuinely effective fix. 4 stars – it does what it promises, is safe for the whole family, and finally lets you enjoy the garden again without holding your nose.Posted on Google![]()

Our artificial grass was looking a bit tired and we weren’t sure what to do with it as it’s in a commercial setting in our pub restaurant premises so has a lot of footfall, spilt food and drinks. My friend recommended giving Green Blade Cleanse a call and I’m so glad I did. They recommended using a product called cleanse and what can I say! It looks like it’s just been laid and it smells amazing.Verified
Brilliant product, fantastic results Fantastic product, smells incredible and works perfectly, artificial grass has come back to life and all pet smells have gone.Verified
Brilliant product!Brilliant product! This has made a huge difference to our artificial grass! We have a dog, and it was starting to hold onto those unpleasant urine smells, especially in warm weather. After using this, the odours were noticeably reduced and the grass smelled fresh again. The gel is easy to dilute and apply, and a little goes a long way. I also like that it's pet-friendly once used as directed, so I don't have to worry about letting my dog back out.A great product that actually does what it promises. If you have artificial grass and pets, it's definitely worth having on hand.Verified
Definitely the best Artificial Grass Cleaner/Odour Remover I have used for eradicating dog pee smellDefinitely the best Artificial Grass Cleaner/Odour Remover I have used for eradicating dog pee smell I have tried quite a few artificial grass cleaners in recent years, but this one has really impressed me. I treated our artificial grass a week ago & unlike many others I have used, the lovely fresh melon fragrance is still noticeable every day. Most cleaners seem to lose their scent after just a couple of days, so this has been a pleasant surprise. As we have drought restrictions in Devon, with a hosepipe ban, I took the opportunity to clean this grass after the only rainfall we had in weeks whilst it was still wet as this cleaner required the artificial grass to be wet, unlike others that is sprayed on dry grass. I used a watering can to mix the cleaner & spread across the grass, then brushed it as per instructions. The thick gel was easy to apply & the method gave me confidence that it was definitely cleaning the grass & removing dog urine odours.I only used half of the 1 litre bottle to cover our lawn so I have sufficient for another clean in a month's time which makes it good value as well. During the summer months, the warm weather brings out the unpleasant dog urine smells, so I find that it needs to be cleaned more frequently than the rest of the year. This cleaner certainly removed all nasty odours & has left the grass area looking fresh, smelling really clean & feeling generally much more pleasant to spend time on.Received as part of the Amazon Vine program in exchange for an honest review.Load more
