What’s the best way to clean artificial grass without damaging it?

Clear leaves, twigs and pet waste, then use a synthetic-bristled lawn brush to lift the pile. A gentle rinse with a garden hose can remove loose dirt where your installation drains freely. For a deeper clean, choose a cleaner suitable for your grass and its base, then follow the product label and your installer’s aftercare instructions. Read the artificial grass cleaning guide

Pick up solid waste as soon as you spot it, clear debris as it collects and rinse your dog’s usual toilet spots when needed, provided the lawn drains freely. How often you need a deeper clean depends on how many dogs use the area, how quickly smells return and how well the lawn drains. Follow the repeat-use guidance on your cleaner’s label.

Pick a dry spell with enough time for the area to dry before people and pets return. Rain during application can dilute the treatment. Some cleaners call for lightly dampening the grass first, so follow your bottle’s directions and wait for standing water to drain before treating the area.

Use a garden hose and a suitable lawn brush for routine cleaning. A concentrated jet can disturb the infill or the base beneath your grass. If your cleaner lists a snow-foam attachment as an application option, check that your installer allows it and keep a high-pressure jet away from the turf itself.

Avoid household bleach on artificial grass. For everyday dirt, start with a gentle brush and rinse if your installation drains freely. For stubborn smells or staining, use a cleaner that your grass manufacturer lists as suitable or ask your installer what they recommend.

Start with the spots your dog uses most often. New urine can build up quickly, especially in a small lawn. If smells return alongside pooling or slow drainage, ask your installer to check the backing and base. The cleaner can treat odour-causing residue, and an installer can address any drainage issue.

An enzyme cleaner is formulated to break down organic residue linked to pet smells. A sanitiser such as Pure Pro is designed for hygienic cleaning of suitable surfaces. Choose based on the job you need to do and use each product according to its label. Use Pure Pro separately from our bio-enzyme treatments.

A 1-litre bottle can be a practical starting point for a smaller lawn or a first treatment. A 5-litre bottle may suit a larger lawn or regular maintenance. Measure the area you’ll be treating and check the product’s dilution and coverage guidance. The amount you need can vary with the base and the severity of the odour. Compare the GreenBlade range
